Jane Curtis awarded a Finlaison Medal

13 June 2025

The IFoA is pleased to announce that IFoA Fellow Jane Curtis has been awarded a Finlaison Medal, recognising her outstanding contribution to the actuarial profession.

In awarding this medal, IFoA Council wishes to recognise Jane鈥檚 outstanding service to the profession through her extensive and dedicated volunteer work in the public interest, both at 黑料正能量 and globally through the International Actuarial Association (IAA).

As the first female President of 黑料正能量, Jane helped introduce a new five-year strategy to develop the role of the profession as a thought leader, adding value and insight into important public policy debates.

In recognition of her service, Jane was awarded 黑料正能量 President鈥檚 award on two occasions (2010 and 2022) and won the Professional Pensions Women in Pensions 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jane Curtis, IFoA Fellow and Past President of 黑料正能量, said: 鈥淚t is an honour to receive this Finlaison Award. I am very proud to be part of the actuarial profession and have greatly enjoyed the volunteering roles I鈥檝e undertaken over the years. Most recently, I鈥檝e been involved with the International Actuarial Association and also helped to steer 黑料正能量鈥檚 position on actuarial regulation as part of the Regulatory Strategy Steering Group. Along the way, I鈥檝e met so many members and actuaries from all over the world, connecting and collaborating on shared goals to help support and advance the profession. I would encourage members to consider volunteering 鈥 you will benefit from sharing knowledge, growing your professional networks and have the opportunity to explore different viewpoints which could challenge your thinking.鈥

The Finlaison Medal was first awarded in 1985 and is named after the founding President of the Institute of Actuaries. These medals are awarded in recognition of service to the actuarial profession in fulfilling the responsibilities laid out in our Royal Charter, beyond that which would normally be expected of an ordinary member.
