GI Board Awards 2025

The GI Board is pleased to launch four award categories recognising outstanding achievements and contributions to the General Insurance actuarial community. 

Award recipients will be announced at IFoA GIRO Conference 2025

These awards aim to highlight excellence, commitment, innovation, and leadership at all stages of an actuary’s career and will be presented at this year's IFoA GIRO Conference, taking place 19 to 21 November in Liverpool. 

Award Categories

Excellence in Education and Mentorship Award (New)

Recognising an individual or team for outstanding contributions to education, mentoring, and the professional growth of others.

Nominees may demonstrate excellence in one or more of the following areas:

  • Educational impact: Development or delivery of training, educational resources, or published materials that benefit the profession.
  • Mentorship: Meaningful mentoring relationships that support the success of students or junior actuaries.
  • Advancing knowledge: Clarifying complex topics or fostering learning in emerging areas.
  • Supporting diversity: Creating inclusive learning environments and encouraging diverse participation in the profession.

Emerging Actuary Award (New)

Recognising actuaries (including students) with fewer than 10 years of experience who have made a significant contribution to the GI field or wider actuarial profession.

Nominees may be recognised for:

  • Innovation and impact: Driving change or improvements within the profession or organisation.
  • Professional engagement: Active involvement in ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ or other actuarial bodies.
  • Rising leadership: Taking initiative, mentoring peers, or leading impactful projects.
  • Commitment to development: Demonstrating dedication to continuous learning and encouraging development in others.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Celebrating a sustained and significant contribution to the GI actuarial profession and/or ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿ throughout a career.

Nominees typically demonstrate:

  • Widespread influence: Advancing diversity, policy, or cross-professional relationships.
  • Raising the profession’s profile: Contributing publicly or internationally to enhance the visibility of actuaries.
  • Exceptional accomplishments: Pioneering work in actuarial science or contributions beyond GI.
  • Exemplary character: Long-term leadership, mentorship, and integrity.

Outstanding Contribution Award

Recognising a notable contribution made in the past 12–24 months by an individual or team that has positively impacted the profession, industry, or public.

Open to individuals, teams, or cross-disciplinary groups working in General Insurance (GI).

Nominees may demonstrate excellence in:

  • Impactful contribution: Meaningful work adopted by regulators, industry, or the profession.
  • Influence and collaboration: Cross-sector innovation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Raising the profile: Promoting actuarial skills in new domains.
  • Professional inspiration: Mentoring, advocacy for inclusion, or upholding professional standards.

The nomination process

To nominate an individual or team, please provide answers to the following:

  1. Nominee name: Who are you nominating? (max 50 words)
  2. The award: Which of the above awards does this nomination relate to?
  3. Career summary: Brief outline of their career to date. (max 200 words)
  4. Reason for nomination: Link to the relevant award criteria. (max 300 words)
  5. Supporting members: Include names and email addresses of any IFoA members supporting the nomination. (no word limit)
  6. Testimonials: Endorsements from others familiar with the nominee's impact. (max 300 words)
  7. Additional evidence: Attach any relevant supporting materials. (single PDF attachment)

The deadline to submit your nomination(s) is 17.00 (UK time) Friday, 12 September 2025.
